What is Preventive Healthcare?

Why wait to get sick before you try and boost your immune system? Wouldn’t it make more sense to arm yourself with the right building blocks so you can be healthy constantly and never have to suffer? Why wait for the heart attack? Let’s catch it before it happens.

Preventive or preventative healthcare is all about catching things before they become a big problem. By learning basic warning signs, looking at personal and family history, and doing some labs, we at Freedom Healthcare can help prevent illness and disease before they make you so sick that you are at the point of no return.

By learning about proper lifestyle and by replacing hormones as you lose them, you can also help prevent many of the problems that usually occur with age such as cardiovascular disease, including heart attacks and strokes, which are the number one cause of death in people over the age of 50. Cancer, arthritis, high blood pressure, diabetes, dementia, obesity, and high cholesterol are also highly preventable.

How is it done?

At Freedom Healthcare, we implement preventive care by offering functional medicine. Functional medicine is giving the body the building blocks that it needs in order to function properly. Our bodies are absolutely amazing. They come equipped with healing and health potential. However, if we don’t give our bodies what they need to get the job done (such as the right nutrients and hormones), then things go awry. Functional medicine is about trying to get to the base cause of issues, and fixing them at the root instead of just treating symptoms with medication.

Our office is considered a complementary medical practice. We don’t shun prescription medications, especially if they are needed. But our goal is to get the body to function in the miraculous way it was intended to through lifestyle intervention, nutrition, and hormone replacement.

Preventive healthcare is better than reactive care; start feeling your best today.

We educate clients about what their bodies need so they know how to ensure that they are functioning at their optimal level. We would rather be preventive than reactive. By looking ahead and treating the core of any present issues, we see the big events coming before they hit so we can change course and avoid much damage. Although we as health care professionals try our best to support your health and wellbeing, the best advocate for you is you. We encourage you to take initiative and get an assessment now so that you can start 2015 in a healthy, positive way, and be totally aware and capable of preventing many illnesses.
